In 2003 Dragonfly Media purchased The New Times and it became part of a family of publications comprised of Shared Vision in Vancouver, BC; Whole Life Times in Los Angeles, CA; Common Ground in San Francisco, CA; and Conscious Choice in Chicago, IL. Relaunching with the January 2004 issue Dragonfly Media renamed The New Times to Evergreen Monthly. The U.S. publications were later sold to Conscious Enlightenment. Subsequently Evergreen Monthly was renamed Conscious Choice Seattle. GAIAM later purchased the publications and with the April 2009 issue ceased publishing these magazines.
Dragonfly Media launched a new website for
Evergreen Monthly beginning with the January, 2004 issue.
The New Times Website containing content from 1995 to 2003 was shut down. As of this writing, the online archives of
Evergreen Monthly and
Conscious Choice Seattle with content from 2004 to 2009 are maintained by GAIAM at
http://www.lime.com/magazines?uri=seattle.consciouschoice.com/lime/archive/index.html.
At the time of these changes the founding publisher of
The New Times, Krysta Gibson, launched a new publication,
New Spirit Journal,
http://www.newspiritjournal.com/. This, in part, met some of the unmet community needs created by shifts in editorial focus and policy at
Evergreen Monthly and
Conscious Choice Seattle.
